My love for Africa
Radiant West African women – a moment of joy and connection
Some places touch you deeply. For me, that place is undoubtedly West Africa.
If you’ve never been there, this kind of journey might just be life-changing. That’s exactly what it was for me. My first time in Africa felt like coming home. There was no logical explanation — I was simply pulled there, with a deep inner knowing: I belong here too.
The rhythm of life, the openness of the people — it awakened something in me that I hadn’t found anywhere else. And every time I return, I feel it again.
What I Learned During That First Journey to South Senegal
That first journey, many years ago now, gave me an unexpected answer to a question many of us carry: What is life?
In Africa, I encountered a way of being that was completely different from what I knew. I realized how much we chase, strive, and pressure ourselves in the West — always in a rush, always reaching for more.
And yet, there I met people who may own little, but live with so much presence. They have dreams, of course, but they live in the moment. There’s no hurry. No pressure. Just simplicity, rest, and surrender to the flow of the day.
Connection, Slowness, and the Value of Being Present
Africa taught me how to slow down. How to truly listen. Not just to others, but also to myself. I learned to be present again — without judgment, without agenda.
And perhaps what moved me most: the pride I saw in the people. Proud of who they are, their culture and how they live — not despite simplicity, but because of it. There is strength and dignity in that.
From Personal Journey to Shared Experience
That first trip wasn’t a retreat. It was a journey of discovery — to a land, a culture, and above all, to myself.
And that’s exactly what I now share through Sunrise Senegal, together with Saikou. We don’t guide people through tourist Africa. We guide them through places of meaning. Not to achieve something, but to remember something.
Our 10-day journey is an invitation to reconnect — with nature, with others, and with your essence.
