Boat trip to Carabane Island in Casamance, Senegal

Three Nights in the Heart of Casamance

Imagine stepping into a wooden pirogue, gliding slowly down the river. The shoreline drifts away behind you and ahead lies a horizon of lush green. Palm trees sway in the wind, fishermen paddle their colorful boats, and the water sparkles in the sunlight. After about an hour on the river, Carabane appears: an island where time seems to stand still.

On day 7 of our Sunrise Senegal Retreat, we take you to this special island. Here, we spend three nights – to slow down, to enjoy, and to connect even more deeply with yourself and the magic of Casamance.

An island of peace and history

Carabane is a place full of stories. Once an important trading post, it still carries traces of colonial architecture – weathered yet beautiful. The island breathes a mix of history and serenity: ancient stone walls beside tropical gardens, a centuries-old chapel nestled among endless mangroves. Everything here reminds you of how vast the world is, and how small your own worries suddenly feel.

A day on Carabane

The days begin with the sound of the ocean and the calls of tropical birds. After a relaxed breakfast, we head out together. You can wander through quiet villages, meet the friendly islanders, or simply enjoy the wide, empty beaches. In the afternoon there is time for reflection and for the personal growth program that gently guides you closer to yourself. And in the evening? We gather by the water’s edge as the sun melts into countless shades of orange and pink.

Why Carabane is part of our retreat

Carabane is more than just a stop along the way – it is a destination that invites you to truly let go. For three days you live at the rhythm of the island: slow, connected, in harmony with nature. For many participants, this stay feels like a turning point, a moment when insights finally settle and space opens for new energy.

The final three days

The last days on Carabane often form the heart of the retreat. This is where everything comes together: the experiences, the encounters, the insights. There is time to pause, to feel, and to integrate – so that you return home with clarity and fresh energy. The island offers you the space and the grounding to mark a new beginning in your life.
